Melanie Clark Thornberry is a Danville native, graduating from Danville High School and then Centre College in 2002, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She received her Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University's Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2005 and then returned to Danville joining her father Merle Clark in his law practice until his retirement. In 2013, Melanie joined the law firm of Sheehan, Barnett, Dean, Pennington, Little & Dexter, P S.C., where she currently focuses her practice in the areas of Real Estate Law and Litigation, General Business Law, Estate Planning and Probate Administration, and other General Civil matters. She also serves as counsel for the Danville-Boyle County Public Library.

Melanie is active in the Danville community where she and her husband Frank reside with their three children. Melanie has served on the Board of Directors for the Heart of Kentucky United Way and volunteered as a "Big Sis" for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Bluegrass. She currently is a Member of the Danville Rotary Club and serves on its Board as the Community and International Service Chair.  She is also an Elder in the Presbyterian Church where she is a lifelong member.
